The ESI-32 was launched as a new budget level sampler, replacing the Emax II. This 'Emax III', had twice the voices, 4 times the memory and an EIIIx type Operating System. It fit in a lighter and smaller 2U module, and it cost less than the Emax II (even when the latter was discounted at the end of its life). In fact, the ESI-32 was based on the Emulator IIIx and not on the Emax range. The ESI-32 was a big step forward from the Emax range, and it quickly became popular as the cheapest means of acquiring the legendary Emulator sound. The sounds from the ESI-32 have been used by Daft Punk, Ixy InDaMix, and Somatic Responses as well as many, many more.
Xtreme Lead was launched in spring 2000 as the Techno/Electronica Module in the new Proteus '1000' range. With a highly credible 64 voices and 32 MB of samples, the XL-1 takes the Audity 2000 sample set, adds hundreds more samples, and adds new functions to put E-mu sample synthesis onto a new level. From classic synthesizers to drums and to loops and worms, this SoundFont covers it all! Even a lawn mower. An amazing 1210 sampled waveforms are contained in this SoundFont collection. This is the complete 16MB set of samples from the Audity 2000, plus the 16MB of samples from the Audity Extreme Sound ROM (from the Phatt and Orbit modules).
Famous for its remarkable stability, E-MU's Modular System was sturdier and would stay in tune much longer than the synthesizers offered by Moog and ARP at the time. The E-MU Modular featured the world's first microprocessor-controlled polyphonic keyboard and sequencer (control voltage, of course, as this was years before MIDI), which was also one of E-MU's first patents.
This includes the entire Emax Collectors Edition SoundFont series. Loaded with 872 instruments from the original Emax hardware, this collection has the 'classic sound' that has made numerous hit records. Indulge yourself in Emax and add these great sounds to your library.
